About us

Nahanni Ackroyd, (she/her) CFP®, RIS
Certified Financial Planner®
Investment Representative
Nahanni Ackroyd | Ackroyd Financial| Nanaimo BC

I help people every day. Whether visualizing and achieving their financial goals or overcoming challenges, it’s the best part of my job as a Certified Financial Planner®.

Making financial planning information accessible is an important part of why I do what I do. I am often requested to speak on a variety of topics for employees, special interest groups and the general public on Vancouver Island and beyond.

Community and giving back are part of how I was raised. I am a founding member and former Coordinating Committee member for 100+ Women Who Care Mid-Island. I also work with several local charities, developing and growing their planned giving programs providing information about Registered Disability Savings Plans.

I am a member of Advocis (The Financial Advisors Association of Canada) and I volunteer as the Financial Literacy Chair for Advocis Vancouver Island. Through Advocis and other resources, I am continually engaged in learning that enhances my practice. I hold designations as a Certified Financial Planner®, through FP Canada and as a Responsible Investing Specialist with the Responsible Investment Association.

Grateful to live, work, and play on the traditional territory of the Snuneymuxw First Nation, I was raised on Vancouver Island. Responsible investing is one way I help take care of our island and our planet. Another is by helping clients make strategic donations to the registered charities that mean the most to them.

During my personal time I enjoy being active outdoors, especially on and near the ocean with family and friends. I often catch lucky shots of our stunning environment (such as all the photos on this site).

I love helping people achieve their financial goals, and ultimately leading to their financial independence. Everyone’s financial situation is unique and their plan, insurance, and investments should reflect this.

It is my mission to help navigate my clients through both planned and unexpected life developments. I am committed to continuous learning that enhances my practice to provide the most up-to-date strategies and information to my clients.

Born and raised on Vancouver Island, I greatly enjoy my time outdoors and taking advantage of what this island gives us. In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and playing a number of sports whenever I can. I am a huge supporter of youth sport in the community, which has lead to me being involved with coaching over the past decade.

Dana Collette
Writer

I love working with Nahanni. As a writer, I listen to her and ask questions to help get a sense of how best to reflect her practice as a financial planner. In addition to writing, I am a facilitator, and an educator with over 15 years’ experience. As one of Nahanni’s first clients, I was surprised to find out I could retire sooner than expected and now enjoy an independent consulting practice.

Melanie Hopkins
Graphic Artist

It was a special opportunity to design the logo for Nahanni’s website. I am an Inuit artist from Inuvik, Northwest Territories, now living on Snuneymuxw territory on Vancouver Island. Also known by my Eskimo names Nunmak and Kulluq, translating to thunder and mother packing a baby, I’ve been creating art since I could hold a pencil and I’m currently aspiring to be a tattoo artist. More of my art can be found on Instagram @inuk_ink.
